Regarding vertical coverage flown by the New York office of Fairchild
Aerial Surveys, we now hold this coverage and its copyright. Vertical
flights from the New York office were transferred to the California
office of FAS in 1958. However, most negatives to jobs prior to 1945
were destroyed rather than transferred due to deterioration of the
original nitrate based film. What little survives of the flights earlier
than 1945 is mostly in paper print format. This collection changed hands
a few times as a number of California based firms gobbled each other up
& ended up at California State University Northridge. We acquired this
collection from Cal State Northridge in 1986. The oblique portion of New
York office flights ended up at the New Jersey State Archives and has
since been distributed to the State Archives of the states of coverage.
For access to this and the rest of our collections, please see our web
site at www.sdc.ucsb.edu. We hope this helps.
