According to Pinnacle Micro user manual a 74 minute audio CD can hold
650mb of data, don't be fooled. We record on a Pinnacle Micro RC1000
almost on a daily basis. According to their techs and numerous tests on
our own with failed recordings, the consistent safe number is 630mb.

This is a variable number in that several large image files
would need little directory "overhead" and you could get away with 650mb.
However backing up a hard drive with thousands of files needs a great deal
more directory "overhead".

CD-ROMs are usually listed as being able to store 640 Mb of data.
If the data was compressed ...well even more.
