The Journal of Spatial Science (Mapping Sciences Institute
Australia/Spatial Sciences Institute of Australia) is looking for a
reviewer for the following title:

"Creating Spatial Information Infrastructure: towards the spatial
semantic web" edited by P. van Oosterom and S. Zlatanova. CRC Press, 2008.
HB 185pp.
This is an edited collection of 11 chapters.

If you would like to review this title, please contact me off list and I
will post the book directly to you.

*****************

also received (no reviewer needed but):

I have also received a copy of the following gorgeous new book:

"The Natures of Maps: cartographic constructions of the natural world"
by Denis Wood and John Fels.
U Chicago Press, 2009.
HB, 225pp, coffee-table format.

While the size, shape and lavish illustrations say 'coffeetable book',
this is actually an academic work, analysing how we map nature, and the
agendas behind the various maps. The first chapter was published in the
latest issue of "Cartographica" 43(3):189-220, along with commentaries
on it by three academics, and a reply by the authors.

Of particular interest to (we) Australians, two different National
Geographic maps of Australia are deconstructed in detail (along with a
number of USGS maps of the US)!
