Subject: Digitization Project info

Hi,

I am currently a Masters student at the University of
Michigan studying Archives and Records Management. For
one of our classes we have been assigned to do an
analysis of digitizing the University's Map Library
holdings for implementation on a web site.

We've consulted many texts, interviewed users and
staff, etc. What we'd like, is to hear from some
people who have done digitizing projects, or are
considering them. We would like to know 2 main things:

What were the challenges faced with the implementation
of a digitalization project??? (obvious and the not
obvious)

--and--

How do users work with digital maps??? Do they still
desire to see primary sources, is a digital copy often
enough???

Thank you a lot for your help. You can respond
directly if you wish or at large.
