I just found out about a new publication of interest for map
libraries in Canada and elsewhere:
 
The Inter-Agency Committee on Geomatics (federal government
level) and the Geomatics Industry Association of Canada have just co-
published the:
"Canadian Geographical Information Systems Source Book = Guide des
Sources Canadiennes sur les systemes d'information geographique".

The 333 page document is "the first-ever comprehensive directory of
the Canadian geomatics community", providing detailed listings of
private companies and federal, provincial and municipal government
agencies involved in GIS activities.  "Everything you wanted to know
about GIS in Canada" in one book.  Lots of contact names and
telephone numbers, and listings of datasets available at the
provincial and municipal level.  There is also a section on education
and training.
