In southern California - how unusual and
unexpected ...
Everything fine in Santa Barbara. In this
library, on 7th and 8th floor several thousand
books on the floor (top shelves mainly, I guess).
Electricity went off here about 5 minutes
after the quake; came back on around 2pm
which seems to me quick work on the part of
the public-utilities persons (it's like being
in Spain, where everything goes through Madrid -
in soCal, a good many things go to LA first).
While it was definitely one of those leap-out-
of-bed-and-stand-in-a-doorway times, it was
under 10 seconds here, with only2 or 3 aftershocks.
