I am totally biased, but may I suggest that before you buy a Britannica
Atlas that you have a look at the new Times Concise Atlas 7th Ed? This
is distributed in the US by Random House and to my mind is far more
attractive to look at. It also has the advantage of having just been
completely redone from a new computer map database, whereas the
Britannica uses RandMcNally maps that although updated have been
around for some time. Atlases periodically need a major revision and
update because you always end up missing some small changes and the
effects become cumulative.
