Here are several that were recommended on MAPS-L users a few months ago
(early October):

1) The Time of London Atlas of the World is good for those on a budget.

2) I would be worth looking at one of the following Collins world
atlases:

Collins Discovery World Atlas
Collins World Atlas Illustrated Edition
Collins World Atlas Concise Edition

3) Atlases published by Dorling-Kindersley (DK) (check out www.dk.com)
and National Geographic (new edition due out imminently) are my
recommendations. A good atlas is partly in the eye of the beholder
as
well as in the contents and indexing.

A few that I deemed worthy of ordering in the last 18 months or so:

If we wanted to get a really good, comprehensive World Atlas that has
recently been published, which one would this group suggest? Just
wondering since all ours are over 10 years old and I have to come up
with reference suggestions by the end of the week. Thanks much. Joan
