JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Ohio State University
Director, Center for Mapping

The Ohio State University invites expressions of interest in, and
nominations for, the position of Director, Center for Mapping. The
Center for Mapping is an interdisciplinary research center focused on
geospatial information science and technologies, including cartography,
geographic information systems (GIS), geodesy using the Global
Positioning Systems (GPS), image acquisition, processing and
understanding, photogrammetry/computer vision, remote sensing,
and visualization.

The Director must be able to establish and cultivate relationships
with senior leaders in business, government, and science to raise
awareness of Center activities and to secure research funding.
Superior communication skills are especially important, as is
demonstrated success in attracting funding for and managing
large-scale research projects. A solid understanding of technology
transfer will be a plus.

This individual works closely with faculty members to foster inter-
disciplinary collaboration in education, research, and proposal
development activities. The Director is expected to make technical
contributions to research projects and must, therefore, be well
grounded in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the Center's
activities.

Successful candidates are expected to meet the qualifications for
appointment as a tenured full professor within one of the departments
cooperating with the Center.

A letter of intent, vita and a list of at least three references may
be directed, in confidence, to the University's executive search
consultant:
