Indirect answer:

the final maps are often submitted to the U.N. and
reproduced at full scale (ca. 1:5,000 - 1:20,000) in the
U.N. Treaty Series, which is available in many reserch
libraries. The lag time is probably considerable; 3 years
          would not surprise me. LC

Hi there,

I've just read the following note from a mailing list on Israeli current
affairs
BEGIN QUOTE
Israel Radio, KOL YISRAEL reported today that teams from Israel
and Jordan completed the demarcation of the border between the two
countries this morning. Final maps are being submitted to both
sides for approval before Wednesday's signing ceremony.
END QUOTE

It looks like those teams have a very tight schedule...
Does anyone know how these final maps are produced? Do they use GIS or
something similar? I'd be interested in the logistics of providing a map
that quickly.

Thanks in advance, Martin
