"Preserving Geoscience Imagery", Geoscience Information Society
Proceedings volume 23 is now available. The 7 papers from the 1992
annual symposium cover such issues as digital imagery, preserving
high-use  geoscience literature, photograph collections at risk,
strategies for scientists to preserve their personal professional
photo and slide collections, and 3 papers on federal initiatives
to preserve images on laser discs. In addition a poster-paper
summarizes basic paper preservation techniques in use at the US
Geological Survey Field Records and Photographic Libraries.
  The volume also contains volunteered papers on geoscience in-
formation presented at the Technical and Poster sessions, all held
in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Geological Society
of America in Cincinnati. "Preserving Geoscience Imagery", GIS
Proceedings volume 23 (ISBN 0-934485-21-6) sells for $45 prepaid in
USD to GEOSCIENCE INFORMATION SOCIETY. Third class domestic postage
or surface mail to foreign countries in included in the price.
