Dear MAPS-L Subscribers,

Mexico Maps now has available  Mexican topo maps in digital format.
These easy-to-use images are in .gif and .tif formats with accompanying
geo-reference files in "WORLD" format (.gfw and .tfw).

1756 of 2299 maps (76%) are available at 1:50,000 scale as a raster
file (123 dpi). Each "map" consists of five files:
.tif - image
.gif - image
.gfw - geo-ref file for use with the .gif file (file type "world")
.tfw - geo-ref file for use with the .tif file (file type "world")
.txt - text file describing the data used in preparing the images and
geo-ref files, the date of the work, projection, datum, pixel
dimensions, elipsoid, and the geographical limits of the area covered
(see example below).

DESCRIPCION.

La carta imagen digital consiste en una imagen que tiene el mismo
contenido que la carta topografica escala 1:50 000 impresa.

Ademas del cuerpo del mapa, se incluye la leyenda marginal para
facilitar su
interpretacion.

La edicion de la carta y esta imagen se prepararon mediante procesos
digitales a partir de datos vectoriales.

Se incluyeron archivos de imagen en formatos tif y gif, se agregan datos
de georeferencia, con la que esta imagen puede combinarse con otra
informacion
geografica, utilizando herramientas adecuadas.

Proyeccion Universal Transversa de Mercator
Cuadricula UTM a cada 1000 m

Datum: ITRF92
Elipsoide: GRS80
