*/Encyclopedia of Earth/ (EoE – www.eoearth.org
<http://www.eoearth.org>) *is an electronic reference about the Earth,
its natural environments, and their interaction with society. The /EoE/
is a free, fully searchable collection of articles designed for use by
educators, scholars, students, professionals and the general public.
Content for the Encyclopedia is created, maintained, and governed by a
community of experts via a specially adapted "wiki" that allows experts
to collectively add and edit web content. Access to the wiki editing
platform is restricted to experts who have been vetted and approved as
EoE Authors and all content is reviewed and approved by Topic Editors
prior to being published. With more than 4,000 articles by more than
1,000 contributors, the EoE has become a leading source of environmental
information on the Internet. It was recognized as the Best Web Site of
2008 by the GeoScience Information Society.

You can subscribe to a weekly e- newsletter to receive the latest
articles in the EoE, up-to-date Earth News from around the world, and
access an online discussion place called the Earth Forum through the
Earth Portal at www.earthportal.org <http://www.earthportal.org/> .
