I was wondering if you could help me with a research
problem. I am trying to find out what kinds of techniques were used
by the surveyors of forests during the forest reform in France in
the 17th century. I also would like to find out who the surveyors
were, and how they learned their survey techniques. I am
specifically curious to know whether they were military surveyors. I
have not, in all my efforts, been able to answer these questions or
even to see copies of the surveys made for the forest reforms of the
1660-1690s. I guess they were single manuscripts, and may only be in
regional archives.
