When the PSU Maps Library was moved in 1999 a company called Burks moved
the map cases intact. The cases were moved in 5-drawer units, the drawers
were stuffed with bubble pack & cardboard to keep the maps from shifting
and the drawers were taped shut. None of the map units were damaged. I
know that many movers are not successful when they moved map cases but it
can be done.

You should take to the movers before they arrive at your location to
actually move the cases.

Linda Newman and I spoke at ACMLA in 2000 on moving our respective
collections. If you check the Number 108 of the AMCLA Bulletin you can read
more about these "moving" experiences.
