Subject: Order Global NGA Aeronautical Charts While They Are Still Available

Dear Customer,

As you may know, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) plans to withdraw over 5,000 aeronautical charts from public access in less than six months.  These products cover the entire globe in various scales. NGA is currently taking public comments on this issue but a positive outcome is not at all guaranteed.

East View Cartographic would like to bring to your attention the commercial availability of three particularly valuable but lesser-known global mapping and database products from NGA which might soon disappear.  These include Earth, 1:5,000,000 scale, Earth, 1:2,000,000 scale, and DAFIF datasets.

We have packaged and priced these items for the academic and public library community in the hopes that these products might get maximum dissemination prior to a withdrawal decision by NGA.

1.  Earth, 1:5,000,000 scale:

- Total global coverage in 27 sheets (this is NGA's GNC [Global Navigational Chart] series; US and some foreign libraries participating in the FDLP program may already possess these charts in paper format only)

- All sheets in English language

- All sheets public domain and copyright-free

3.  DAFIF set

- Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File

- Massive collection of GIS and other digital aeronautical charts from all over the globe and at multiple scales.

- While updated every four weeks for pilots, most libraries would be well-served just to have a single snapshot of this database, since only a small portion of it actually changes with each new release.

- Our research shows that almost no US or foreign libraries possess DAFIF; it has never been a part of the FDLP.

- All data in English language

-All data is public domain and copyright-free
