The Specialist will work with faculty to develop and manage quantitative
analysis resources, including a GIS (Geographical Information System)
laboratory and a quantitative analysis computer laboratory.  Provide
consultation and support for quantitative analysis / GIS systems
including hardware (computers, printers, plotters, etc.), software
(installations, upgrades, licenses), data (storage, management, web
applications), training, and support.  Coordinate with others in ITS
supporting the network and server resources to help ensure successful
projects by students and faculty.  This position reports to Director of
Academic Information Technology Services.  Qualifications include:  At
least two years experience with GIS (especially using ArcGIS) is
required, and experience with remote sensing software is preferred;
familiarity with associated microcomputer hardware, server integration,
web-based applications, network architectures, large format printers,
and scanners is essential.  Broad familiarity with quantitative analysis
techniques, including multivariate and nonparametric statistical
analyses and geostatistics appropriate to diverse scientific and social
science research is required, as is the use of one or more of the
following statistical software packages for these analyses:  SPSS, SAS,
STATA, and TSP.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, a
commitment to team participation, excellence in service to members of
the academic community and effectiveness in supporting people at all
levels of experience are required.  Experience delivering high quality
workshops should be demonstrated.  A bachelors degree is required and an
advanced degree in a GIS-related field is preferred.  Significant
experience supporting faculty members in higher education is very highly
desired.
