(Moderator note: In my experience very few climate maps use a pure
Koeppen system. The Koeppen classification system is one of the earliest,
most systematic, and most used of the climate classification systems. It is
also the most altered. Everyone that uses the system appears to modify the
classification system. When you see a Koeppen map it is usually stated to be
a modified system. But do not depend on the map publisher to make this clear.
Most of the modern (post-WWII) maps that state Koeppen are modified Koeppen,
and sometimes modified in ways not stated anywhere on the map.
The climatologists and biogeographers among us can describe the problem
better than I. --------------------------Johnnie)

Klett-Perthes, Germany, does a "Climate of the Earth" wall map, 220 x 148
cm. Bilingual English/German. It uses the Koeppen-Geiger system.

Available from us and others.

I think it is a bit optimistic to look for a worldmap 1:2,000,000
as the data visualized doesn't lend itself well for such an
expensive product. Maybe a datbase somewhere? I found a
1:18,000,000 map of Europe showing 5 modified Koeppen regions in

Climate of Europe : recent variation, present state and future
prospects / European Climate Support Network. - De Bilt : KNMI
(Royal Dutch Meteorological Survey), cop. 1995.
ISBN 90-369-2069-8 : Dfl. 10,-

A succinct, but well defined description of Koeppen regions
criteria you can find in the following 'Glossary of oceanography
and the related geosciences with references" under K:

http://www-ocean.tamu.edu/~baum/paleo/paleogloss/paleogloss.html

I suspect that when you contact the world meteorological
organization they may be able to direct you to more detailed
information or maybe a global database. If so, keep us informed.

At the University of Arizona Library, we have 4 climate maps that are
based on the Koppen system. Here are the titles:

1. Carta de climas : tipos de climas segun Koppen modificado por
Garcia. (Only covers Mexico)
2. Climatic regions map of Asia and the Far East : (Koppen
classification). (Scale is 1:5 million)
3. [Deserts of the world]. (Has 18 maps on one
sheet, so the scale is quite small -- 1:68 million).
4. Koppen - climatic provinces of the earth. (Pub. date is 1927 and the
scale is fairly small -- 1:34 million. It's located in our Special
Collections dept. so would not be available for ILL).

Perhaps others know of more maps.
