---------- Forwarded message ----------
Dear Federal Depository Library Colleagues,

The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) is currently the subject of an independent operational review by the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). Congress is seeking an updated review of GPO's overall operations to define the agency's role in Government printing and information dissemination, including the FDLP, in order to address the challenges of the digital age. This mandate derived from the conference report to the 2012 Consolidated Appropriations Act (Public Law 112-74).

As part of the review, Marilu Goodyear, Chair of the NAPA Panel, sent a message out yesterday afternoon to the Directors and Coordinators of depository libraries, as well as the major library associations. She requested help in identifying the core issues of the FDLP and gathering strategic ideas through a survey to assist the Panel in the development of their findings and recommendations.

I strongly encourage all members of the FDLP community to participate in the NAPA survey by the September 5, 2012 deadline. As noted in the introduction to the survey, to learn more about NAPA, please visit their Web site at < www.napawash.org >. For questions about the survey itself, please contact < [log in to unmask] >.

Sincerely,

Mary Alice Baish
Superintendent of Documents
