Actually, the Geography and MLS dual degree program at University of Maryland (aka GeLS) is dead. UM
does have a large map collection--field studies are always a possibility--but there's no dedicated
curriculum to support map librarianship. And for better or worse, the UM geography dep't is much
more interested in remote sensing than in cartography and traditional maps/mapping.
