I have a faculty member who is researching an African-American community
in 1950 Los Angeles referred to as the “West Side” She would like to
locate this community geographically, and is considering street maps.
She wants to work with paper maps, so she can spread them out and be
able to move from one location to the next. Here are some names of the
streets and landmarks that she thinks were part of the community:
Compton Ave., Fortuna, Norman, W. 27^th St., Crenshaw High School,
Police station at Newton St. and Central Ave. If you can help, please
contact directly.
