**** INVITATION FOR COMMENTS ON THE NATIONAL SPATIAL DATA
                        INFRASTRUCTURE (NSDI) ***

At the Geo-Data Policy Forum in Atlanta this past summer, five
working groups were developed to prepare position papers on the
National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). These papers will
be shared at the next Geo-Data Policy Forum in Minneapolis on
November 1. One of these groups is: "Working Group 3: Other
Communities Who Need to be Involved in the NSDI." The goal of
this group is to identify the communities who should be involved
in the planning and implementation of the NSDI.

In an effort to have board input, I am soliciting comments for
inclusion in the paper. Specifically, I am looking for:

  1. Identification of board categories of communities to be
involved (i.e., private sector organizations or
     companies, professional societies, public interest
     groups, governmental organizations, etc.).

  2. A brief (one or sentences) reason as to why that
     community should be involved.

  3. To the extent possible, list contacts in the community
you identify. Where possible, include specific names and
     addresses.

  4. Listings of opportunities to reach out to the interested
communities. For example, upcoming conferences or
     professional meetings.

Please send comments to: [log in to unmask]

All input will be compiled into one document to be presented at
the Geo-Data Policy Forum in Minneapolis. All comments need to
be received by October 24, 1993 in order to be included in the
final document.
