Special Libraries Association (SLA) is celebrating its 100^th birthday
in Washington, D.C., June 14 – 17, 2009. The Geography and Map Section
has been meeting for almost 70 years! Here is a brief outline of
activities that relate to the Section during the week:

_Sunday, June 14, 2009_

5:00 p.m. – Keynote address by former Sect. of State Colin Powell

7:30 p.m. – SLA Reception

8:00 p.m. – Social Science Division Open House with Education and
Museum, Arts, and Humanities Divisions

_Monday, June 15, 2009_

9:00 a.m. – SLA session on IFLA-Milan (Aug. 21 – 28, 2009)

1:30 p.m. – Census 2010: Not Your Grandmother’s Census

6:00 p.m. – International Reception with shuttle service to Zambia Embassy

_Tuesday, June 16,2009_

7:30 a.m. – Social Science Division breakfast and business meeting

9:30 a.m. – 2 sessions, one on cataloging RDA, or the other, a paper session

1:30 p.m. – National Geographic Society visit

8:30 a.m. – Paper session including “Mad Maps.”

12:30 p.m. – Closing Session with Judy Woodruff

2:30 p.m. – SLA 2010 Kickoff & Closing Reception

3:30 p.m. – Tour of Jefferson Building, Library of Congress, and its
cartographic exhibits, led by Ed Redmond of LC Geography and Map
Division (meet at West Front steps)

4:30 p.m. – Tour of Geography and Map Division, Library of Congress,
Madison Building, featuring a selection of cartographic treasures from
around the globe, hosted by Ed Redmond, Geography and Map Reference
Specialist (meet in the lobby outside the Geography and Map Reading
Room, basement level, LM-B01)
