Hi, David - In the category of FWIW, my observation is that most anybody under the
age of about 25 operates any computer-connected card/coin-operated device with no
difficulty as long as there is a clear path to take. People over 25 may require
some handholding. The devices that seem to work best from a customer perspective
appear to have a 1-2-3-4-5 type of path with a numbered sticker to say what should
happen and in what order.

For example, wherever the 1 is should say "Insert your copycard or coin here" with
arrows pointing to the two slots. Wherever the 2 is should say "Lift cover and
place your map or atlas face down on the glass with the top corner of the map on
the glass by the red arrow". Wherever the 3 is should say something like "Click on
Start/Program/...." etc. pointing the people to the program (unless, of course,
you've been kind enough to put the program on the desktop of the computer, etc.

HTH.
