GIS and Geography Librarian (Replacement Librarian) - 100342-contract  (10-month Contract)

Responsibilities:   The University of Ottawa Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented individual with excellent communication skills to fill the position of GIS and Geography Librarian (Replacement Librarian Position) for a ten (10) month contract. The successful candidate will be an inquisitive and self-motivated person who works well with colleagues in a challenging and changing environment.

Description:  Reporting to the Head of the Geographic, Statistical, and Government Information Centre (GSG), the incumbent is responsible for faculty liaison, collection development and reference services in assigned disciplines (Geography, Geomatics, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Studies), and the provision of access and support for broad interdisciplinary use of spatial data.
In addition, the incumbent is responsible for managing the GSG's spatial data and map collections, research consultation, and information literacy training (including spatial and numeric literacy).
The overall objective of this position is the contribution to the optimal development, organization, access and use of geographic information and related data resources in support of the learning, teaching and research mission of the University of Ottawa.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1.      Master's degree in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an ALA accredited institution;
2.      Two (2) years of professional experience, or fewer, depending on relevance of experience to the position.
3.      Knowledge and experience from working with library resources and technologies (experience with subject-specific resources for Science, Geography, and / or Geomatics is an asset);
4.      Pertinent knowledge of and experience in the areas of collection development, teaching, and reference work;
5.      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
6.      Bilingual (English and French), written and spoken, including the ability to teach in both official languages.

Rank and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  If the candidate meets the qualifications the minimum salary annual will be $45,309

This position is part of the Bargaining Unit (Faculty, Librarians, Counselors, Language teachers).
