Patrick,

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Products and Services page
  http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/products_services.html
has a link to "Data sheets" for benchmaks and survey monuments
  http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheet.html

"NGS' principal information product, the data
sheet,combines control-point position and height
information in a single format. Datasheets are
retrieved directly from the NGS database by
specifying a PID (Permanent Identifier), control
point name, area, or survey project identifier..
Control point information may be formatted in
the traditional NGS Data Sheet Format, DSDATA,
or in the Point Profile (Part 6) of the Spatial Data
Transfer Format (FIPS 173). "

I suspect that this information will just be for NGS control and not for those other benchmarks established by state DOT's, USGS, or other agencies.

   Hope this helps,

Is anyone aware of an on-line benchmark locator. Enter the benchmark
number and get the Lat/Lon or a quad name?

Thanks,
