Subject: How many maps and GIS librarians have MLS?
Sender: "Youngblood, Dawn" <[log in to unmask]>

Dear Maps-L

Due to the special nature of maps, and particularly GIS, I have noticed that
some libraries state "MLS or Graduate degree in a map-related science" as a
requirement when hiring. What are the thoughts out there on this mater?
How common is it to have someone in a map-related science in charge of maps
and/or GIS rather than someone with an MLS???
