Dear Map listers,

I am writing to the list to ask for advice regarding methods for
transporting maps from A to B. In my case A is the map stack and B is
the reading room. Sometimes a lift/elevator is involved when the item
needs to be photographed or exhibited, but not very often. I work in
a closed stack research library in New Zealand so map retrieval is
part of my job and the maps can only be used in the library. Some of
the maps are large (up to 1m long) and some are rare and valuable.

I was wondering if others in a similar situation might recommend a
type of design they favour. Someone had suggested a surface that was
on a slope (45') rather than a flat decked trolley. I will have to
have the item made locally so the design is more important than the
source, however I may be able to obtain a catalogue with illustration
from an overseas manufacturer which would help. Even an illustrated
website might do.

Thanking you in advance for any suggestions anyone may have and for
taking the time to answer. My e-mail address should appear below.
