Hi Kathy and others,
Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior
(http://www.moi.gov.tw/english/index.aspx) has a large assortment of
hi-res maps available online; many of these links can be found at this
site created by a blogger:
http://blog.udn.com/blackrosez/4936108

There is a fine 1:8000 scale map of Yingge District at the following
link, although it might not be new enough (2007) to suit the needs of
your patron -- but at least it provides an excellent basemap.

Here are two gorgeous adjoining 1:65,000 scale maps of the Taipei area
(pubished by the MOI and Xinbei City Hall, Oct. 2007) , showing Yingge
on the far western border of Taipei County. Again, perhaps your patron
already has this level of detail, but they might prove useful:

Your patron could contact the Taiwan Ministry of the Interior
(http://www.moi.gov.tw/english/index.aspx) to find other maps that might
be available.

Also, if your patron needs to find earlier comparative maps of this part
of Taipei County, many are available online, or have him/her contact us
offline -- we have a decent collection of colonial-period maps of
Taiwan, including detailed maps of the Taipei area, when it was under
Japanese control (1895-1945).

Yrs,
Bob M.

All,

I realize this is a longshot, but I have a student who is looking for
current detailed topographic information for Yingge district, New Taipei
City, Taiwan. Apparently this area underwent extensive redevelopment
recently, so the data/maps need to have been produced in the last 18 months.

The student is checking with the local government.

Any ideas for other sources?

Thanks,

--
