This is indeed very sad news for all of us who knew Jan. She was always upbeat and positive about everything even as she explained her serious medical diagnosis to us at ALA annual in 2008 in Anaheim. Jan was a tireless MAGERT worker and made many contributions to map librarianship, not the least of which was her work in leading the Map Security Task Force that produced the document, Map Security Guidelines, for MAGERT and map librarians and their institutions. She will be greatly missed my all.

Thank you, Jenny, for letting us all know.

Carolyn Kadri
2009 Past Chair, MAGERT

Thank you for sharing this sad news Jenny, I am
in total shock. I had no idea that Jan was even
sick, and remember her energy, enthusiasm, smile,
and sense of humor while seeing her at MAGERT
meetings and as she lead efforts relating to
programs for security of map collections in
recent years. I don't know what else to say
except Jan will be missed very much by the map librarians community.

Sincerely,

Paige
