 From a retail perspective, I am repeatedly amazed at the lack of knowledge
of maps in the general public.   We also deal weekly if not daily with
university faculty and staff that are certainly GIS-illiterate and often
cartographically illiterate as well or do not have the
equipment/software/time to deal with ArcGIS, etc.
