     To:-
Jennie Dienes, T.R. Smith Map Collection, Lawrence, Kansas:-

The scale of your missing map is, according to the NGS's own
'Library/Map Collection: Reference Set, December 1993: Geographic Area
List' page 10.2, 1:2 851 200 and is on the Albers conical equal-area
projection. It forms plate 6 of the NGS's 'Atlas Folio'.

We may have a duplicate of this plate if you would like us to rummage
amongst our thousands of duplicate sheets (we do, however, keep all
     NGS duplicate/surplus maps together).

     Sincerely
Francis Herbert (Curator of Maps, RGS, London)

Jennie,

I just popped into our online catalog and found the 1959 title you are
inquiring about. Mind you, I didn't jog down to our collection and pull the
actual map to verify, but according to the bib. record the scale for this
map is 1:2,851,200 or 45 miles to the inch.

Hope this helps! (If you would like me to verify by pulling the map just ask
and I will be happy to do so)

Paige
