comp.infosystems.gis is the Usenet group for GIS-L.  David Mark no longer had
time to manage the list, but It did not go away however--I believe URISA took
over the list, with a change of list server.  I don't know what the new address
is, but try Bill Thoen's _On-line Resources for Earth Scientists_ for the
current listserver at ftp://ftp.csn.org/ores.txt.
