All,

Has anyone run across any maps from this series (see text for
description). Thanks.

Title: Mapping surficial deposits and weathered rock materials of
Quaternary age
in Colorado, from the continental divide to the Great Plains
Author: Moore, David W; Straub, Arthur W; Baker, Michael L
Affiliation: U. S. Geological Survey, Denver, CO, United States (USA)
Monograph Title: Geological Society of America, 1999 annual meeting
Conference: Geological Society of America, 1999 annual meeting, Denver,
CO, United States, Oct. 25-28, 1999
Sponsor: USGSOP, Non-USGS publications with USGS authors
Source: Abstracts with Programs - Geological Society of America, vol.31,
no.7, pp.408-409, 1999

Fifty-nine types of Quaternary surficial deposits and residua were mapped
on the Denver and Pueblo 1X2-deg quadrangles, a 14,900 sq. mi. (38,590 sq.
km) area where 2.4 million people live, making it the most populous part
of Colorado. The maps are being prepared in e00 and .pdf formats, and will
be USGS digital and print-on-demand paper maps. ... The quadrangles are
part
of the nearly finished 4X6-deg Pikes Peak quadrangle of the USGS I-Map
series, Quaternary Atlas of the U.S. About 100 map units on the latter are
detailed in the way outlined above. Published large-scale geologic maps,
USDA soils maps, topical papers, and drill hole data were used to compile
information. From soils maps we obtained data about texture, composition,
depth to bedrock, basic chemistry (alkalinity, calcium carbonate, gypsum,
and salinity), and other characteristics such as hardness and plasticity
of parent materials, which help describe surficial deposits and weathered
rock materials.
