I am delighted to announce a vacancy at Cambridge University Library Map
Library.

 Deputy Head of the Map Department
 Job No: RCN: 113
 Grade: 5
 Salary Range: £21,682 - £24,403 pa

Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Head of the Map
Department of Cambridge University Library.

As Deputy Head of the Map Department the role  holder is a key member of
the Map Department team  and plays a significant part in the
cataloguing  of the collections and in the answering of reader
enquiries. He/she also trains and supervises  staff, assists the Head of
Department with the  se! lection of materials for purchase, orders and
pays for these items and is responsible for  Collection Management,
ensuring in particular  that space is used efficiently.

Applicants should be educated to at least A-level standard, have
experience of working in an academic library, a demonstrable interest in
cartography and the ability to comprehend cartographic information and
impart it to others. They should also have familiarity with
internationally accepted cataloguing rules (LCSH,  AACR2, MARC21),
excellent IT, staff management,  organisational and communication
skills, plus a flexible approach and the ability to work accurately with
an attention to detail.
