Some of you might be interested in knowing that one of the winners of
the 2005 "Great American Toy Test" was the SmartGlobe by Oregon
Scientific. It's described as follows:

Toy test description: Thirty activities provide interactive learning
including country capitals, currency conversion and national anthems.
With its wireless stylus and high quality sound, it can be customized
for three age groups beginning at age five, right into college. Up to
four people can play at the same time. To keep it current, connect it to
your computer and update it on the internet.

Oregon Scientific's description: SmartGlobe 3D Interactive Globe
(PR18)

For kid and families of all ages, ages 5 and up

The SmartGlobe is the only learning globe on the market that can be
updated using USB and information can be customized for three age
groups. Globe trotters are given a digital tour around the world through
nearly 30 learning activities including country capitals, currency
conversion and national anthems. Plus, it's great for multi-player games
accommodating up to four players.

The cost on various web sites seems to range from about $90 up to $130
or more ($129.95 retail).
