DIGITIZED SOIL MAP OF THE WORLD
Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN

The Land and Water Development Division of FAO has developed
a digitized version of the FAO/UNESCO Soil Map of the World. Over
60 diskettes, divided into seven continental areas, present soil
information, country boundaries, inland water, glacier and
coastline information.

The maps are drawn to a scale of 1:5,000,000 in Geographic
Projection. Each Group of diskettes contains tables defining the
extent of Mapping Units, Soil Units, Texture and Slope for each
country. A Soil Expansion file is included, as well as notes
describing the map legend, the tabular data's structure, and the
analysis of the soil data.

Country boundaries re up-to-date through June 1992. All
digitized cartographic data is in ARC/INFO EXPORT format and
requires GIS software to access. IBM-PC or compatible.
