Thank you to Wangyal Shawa and Wendie Helms for their thoughtful responses to this topic. I was president of WAML at the initiation of the WAML project. At the time we thought it would be more manageable to concentrate on our principal region (Western US and Western Canada) but welcomed anyone else to add their projects (guest passes to add and edit are available). It has always been our goal that eventually this clearinghouse project will contribute to a national effort.

I would agree with Wendie that the amount of work it took to create the Clearinghouse would limit the number of such registries cropping up. Also, Janet Collins (WAML) and Chris Kollen (MAGERT) collaborated on the design in the early stages of the respective projects and so there is already a mutual understanding between the two groups. Perhaps the next step would be as Wendie suggested, a national organization such as CUAC to assume the role of overseeing a centralized database. In the meantime, I share Wangyal?s concern that people need to start listing their projects with any one of these registries so that we can all benefit.
