Is the map librarian ok? And...is it possible a list of the missing maps might
be posted on maps-l so that we can watch out for these? Alice Hudson,NYPL.

*************
Well, here are some other facts.

Yes, the librarian is *ok*, I just spoke to him by phone. The SSL management
agreed with the proposal to publish the list of stolen map titles. They just
now make a file of them which I will process for MAPS-L until tomorrow when
I have got the diskette.

The actual report published in newspaper (SZ 5.10.93):
- the third mapjacker has been identified as "Joachim Zeumer (27)",
obviously the son of the other gangster, also named "Joachim Zeumer".
Both are coming from Attendorn (Nordrhein-Westfalen).
- First one, identified as "Wolfgang Mielke", was coming from Bacharach
  (Rheinland-Pfalz).
- all three are attempting to escape, their car has been identified as
a Peugeot, it was loaned from a firm in Kassel (Hessen) and found at the next
  day of the coupe.
- they are on the run... police hasn't any information that the very valuable
historic maps from 16th, 17th and 18th centuries have been offered anywhere.

I'll send the map registered to MAPS-L as soon as the title list is available.

F. Hoffmann, DD at 10-35.
