The Cornell University Geospatial Information Repository (CUGIR -
http://cugir.mannlib.cornell.edu) at Mann Library, Cornell University is
pleased to announce that a set of collarless 1:24,000 Digital Raster Graphs
(DRGs) is now available for the entire state of New York. The New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) created them from
scans of U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute quadrangle maps (Digital Raster Graphics). The
images are GeoTIFF files in NAD83, UTM zone 18. The images form a set of
seamless tiles, 5,000 m on a side, from which the map collar information
was removed.

A DRG is useful as a source or background layer in a GIS, as a means to
perform quality assurance on other digital products, and as a source for
the collection and revision of DLG data. These data are available at the
quad level. Each quad file contains a tarred archive that contains all
tiles that fall completely or partially within that quad. Drg files at
1:100,000 and 1:250,000 are forthcoming.
