Subject: USGS topo question - PBS series question, answered!
Sender: Elisabeth Filar <[log in to unmask]>

Thanks to Charles Hickman at USGS I received an answer to my question about
Primary Base Series maps - which are through USFS not BLM. Since a few
people I asked directly, hadn't heard of this series, I figured I should
post this on maps-l and let everyone know.

Subject: USGS topo question

I hope this isn't too ignorant of a question to ask... I do appreciate any
info anyone can give me!

I had a patron yesterday requesting a particular USGS topo quad of the
"primary base series". He said these types of maps had been done in the last
15 years showing BLM type information - such as mining claims and
ownership - on 7.5" topos. I didn't know this was a series and we didn't
have the quad he wanted though he said it had been completed so I'm not sure
of the info he provide me. Would there be a list, or would these be noted
in a guide somewhere?

Can anyone give me insight to this series? I'd love as little or as much
info as you can provide. You can email me directly with responses....

Thanks!
Beth
