A very good source for E. European place names is the Where We Once
Walked-A guide to Jewish Communities destroyed during the Holocaust.
As most Jewish Communities were destroyed, it provides excellent
coverage and includes cross references in a number of
languages/spellings. A small note on each city or town is also
included. You could probably email someone at the U. of Toronto Map
Library (try [log in to unmask])
