I spoke to Brian Schottlaender a few minutes ago about the
situation at UCLA following the earthquake. He told me that
hundreds of thousands of books in several libraries are on the
floor. Floors 4 and 5 in the URL are evidently a major mess.
There is some broken glass in the URL and in at least one branch.
Engineers will be checking today for major structural damage.

Michael Noga called this morning. He is fine. Some plaster down and
lamps knocked over in his apartment, which is on the ground floor.
He was planning to call Jim O'Donnell who is closer to the epicenter
and also to walk in to see how his library fared. Michael thought
Barbara Haner was further from the epicenter and would be okay.
Have not heard further from him. Am hesitant to try to call there.
