I think that in an online environment, it's a waste of time to key in the
GMD for maps.  OPACS should automatically identify non-book format
materials in their displays.  UC Berkeley's GLADIS and the California-wide
MELVYL catalog have done this from the outset.  I'm pleased by OCLC's
decision; it will save us from having to delete the GMDs -- Phil Hoehn,
