All --

As the holiday season unfolds, we thought we'd bring you up to date on
the Forest Service Geospatial Portal (FSGeoportal).

In November we added a feature showing the (very) wide variety of Forest
Service maps found on the World Wide Web (static maps), and a 'canned'
link to USAJOBs that searches for all geospatial jobs posted at the GS-7
through
15 levels. There are literally thousands of FS maps on the web (fire
progression, winter recreation, forest plan alternatives, land
exchanges--you name it). And there are often scores of geospatial jobs
on USAJOBS--some quite interesting (location wise...).

Other noteworthy content includes information about the joint FS/BLM
Geospatial Conference set for May 2007 in Portland, OR, and the recently
released FS ESRI Image Server client supported by the Remote Sensing
Applications Center and the Geospatial Service and Technology Center.

By late December we plan to offer a way for users to comment directly on
the content and functionality of the portal. Input--comments,
suggestions, ratings, etc.--will de displayed for all to see. Let us
know what needs improvement.
