His speech at Cal Tech, as recorded in the media was interesting.  I have
sent 8 letters to local congresspersons and senators hoping to persuade them
to have wide enclusive hearings on this.  No answers from any yet.

Bruce Babbitt, in a speech to the annual meeting of the American Association
for the Advancement of Science, on Feb 14, equated the move to kill USGS and
other science agencies to 'book burning.'  The article describing this is in
today's New York Times, p. A-16.
 
I have a call in to his office, dont know his email, to obtain a copy of this
paper, and any other position statements he has on USGS.
