Alice,

What sort of outline maps you are looking for? ...and what software your
graphic folks are using? One advise I can think right now is that...you
should not look for raster outline map. What you should get is a vector
base outline map. Advantage of dealing with vector base graphic file is
that you don't have to think about resolution such as dpi and a grid cell.
If your outline map is in vector file format then you don't have to think
in dpi. You can zoom in as much as you want but still you will not see
pixel as you see in raster file.

If your graphic folks are using vector base graphic software such as Adobe
Illustrator or CorelDRAW(corelDRAW will read vector as well as raster
files)or FREEHAND etc (I think, Photoshop 6 may have read vector files).
Most of these software packages will read EPS file. What I would do if you
have ArcView...open shapefile in ArcView and then export a file in EPS
format. If your graphic folks are using Illustrator...export shape file in
AI file format. If you want to take this approach, then you should not face
any problem in getting outline map of the any parts of the world. If you
need help let me know I could send them outline map in any specific graphic
file formats.

If you really want to buy graphic out line maps then you could buy the Map
Art CDs from CARTESIA.

Thanks.
