Reference Librarian, Colorado School of Mines Arthur Lakes Library invites
applications for the faculty position of Assistant Reference Librarian.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE staffing the reference desk; providing
instruction and assistance to library users, including instruction on
electronic resources; database searching; reference collection development
activities; serving as liaison to academic departments; participating on
library and campus committees; engaging in professional, scholarly, and
service activities; participating in general operations of the Reference
section; special projects as assigned.  Must demonstrate potential for
professional growth and development.  Some evening and weekend hours
required.  The Colorado School of Mines is a doctoral-granting institution
devoted to engineering and applied science, particularly in the areas of
energy, mineral, and materials science and engineering.  The Arthur Lakes
Library is a specialized technical library that supports the educational
and research goals of the Colorado School of Mines and serves as a
regional center for information in engineering and science.  The library
staff consists of eight library faculty and twelve support
staff.  REQUIRED: Masters degree in Library Science, and either a
bachelors degree in a science/engineering field or at least 1 years
experience in science/engineering library reference.  PREFERRED: A second
masters degree in a science/engineering field; additional library
experience in science/engineering; experience with computer applications,
including electronic databases.  A strong public service orientation,
adaptability to a rapidly changing information environment, and good
communication skills are of extreme importance.  Salary: minimum $ 30,000,
negotiable commensurate with experience.  Candidates should send a letter
