This is a good question -- so far as I know, the Colorado North Zone
refers to the State Plane projection, referring to which zone should
software (such as ERDAS or Arc/INFO) collect its parameters from.
Recently, I had a request to project some data into Kentucky State Plane
Feet -- I didn't know which counties were considered "South" and which
were "North" -- so I did the whole state for both zones and let the user
figure out what was right. It would be nice if there were a dataset out
there, though.
