Haberstich <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Maps and Tourist Literature I have a question which probably should be sent to a library list, rather than the museum list, but I decided to start here first, since there is some overlap in interest, function, and jurisdiction among our varied members; I know some are associated with libraries, historical societies, etc.: I want to deaccession portions of a collection, consisting of printed books and ephemera accumulated by a photographer during his travels. The materials in question include maps, tourist brochures, museum guides, and similar books and pamphlets from locations around the world. Nothing particularly early, rare, or unusual--all ca. 1950-1980--but I would think these items would be useful in a library setting. Do you know of an institution which could use such materials, total volume approx. 6 cu. ft.? In some casual inquiries to librarians I have not received any helpful advice thus far. I hate to discard these items and would prefer to find an institutional home for the whole file (minus specific materials which were annotated by the photographer and thus have a direct relationship to his work). Most of the items I want to transfer are unmarked and in good condition. Any ideas?
